A long-planned addition to Florence’s lodging options is moving toward completion on Quince Street, where Braun Hospitality is developing a four-story, 86-room Microtel by Wyndham across from the Florence Events Center.

The hotel is intended to give conference and multiday-event visitors a nearby place to stay. Todd Construction is the general contractor, and Woodblock Architecture designed the project.

Construction Progress on Quince Street

Photograph taken October 28, 2026, by Alex Ziwahatan Chase show gray exterior siding and rows of installed windows. Construction fencing still surrounds the site, and sections of the ground-floor frontage remain unfinished. Vehicles and a worker are visible near the building, with bare soil remaining alongside paved surfaces and concrete curbs.

In an August 28 report from Coast Radio, developer Matt Braun said the building’s exterior envelope was complete and interior painting was underway. Crews were preparing to begin concrete work for curbs and sidewalks.

At that time, substantial construction was expected to finish in mid-December 2026, followed by installation of furnishings and equipment in January. The report placed final completion around January 18, 2027.

Completion of construction and opening to guests are separate milestones. Todd Construction lists an anticipated opening by spring break 2027. Those dates remain projections rather than a confirmed opening day.

What Guests Can Expect

Planned amenities include an on-site bar, a breakfast room and ergonomic workstations. Todd Construction also lists RV and EV parking, outdoor gear space, an outdoor patio and pedestrian paths. The property sits beside the estuary trail connecting Quince Street with Highway 126.

A December 2025 announcement identified Mereté Hotel Management as the hotel’s operator and listed complimentary breakfast among the planned amenities.

Braun told Coast Radio that favorable weather and budget savings had allowed additions including a mural, an outdoor fire pit and locally produced artwork. He anticipated approximately 22 to 24 employees when the hotel is fully staffed, with hiring expected to begin late in 2026.

Years in the Making

The hotel occupies a 3.12-acre portion of a larger property acquired by the Florence Urban Renewal Agency in 2018. The agency purchased the 13.4-acre former Siuslaw Middle School site to encourage lodging development and related uses.

The property transaction with Braun Hospitality closed November 17, 2025, through a public-private development agreement. Construction began that December.

For Florence officials, the location is central to the project’s purpose. In the city’s announcement, Mayor Rob Ward described a hotel across from the Events Center as part of a community vision dating back more than 30 years. Nearby overnight accommodations were intended to support Florence’s appeal as a coastal convention destination.

For residents watching the changing Quince Street corridor, spring 2027 remains the opening window to watch.
