Munsel Lake
North of Florence
Munsel Lake lies north of Florence, off Munsel Lake Road, in a hollow of mixed forest and summer houses. It is a quiet lake by local standards: no crowds, no boardwalk, just a county park at the south end and a ramp where boats go in. The water is warm enough to swim by midsummer and clear enough to see bottom near the shore. Trout are stocked through the spring and hold in the cooler water off the springs, and a kayak is the usual way to see the whole shoreline in an afternoon. The creek that carries the lake's outflow runs down through town, where the paved Munsel Creek Trail follows part of it, so the lake and Florence are more connected than they look from the road. For a short paddle or a quiet bank to fish from, this is the closest water to town that still feels out of the way.
